Endorphins, hormones welfare

Feeling good depends on many factors. Social issues, family and of course psychological influence our mood, but also our body’s hormones determine how we feel.

Endorphins are a hormone produced by the pituitary gland, and produce a feeling of comfort and pleasure when they are released. Also act as painkillers, easing body aches and inhibiting painful sensations in the brain.

Surely you’ve heard many times that physical exercise causes a feeling of wellbeing and may even help prevent depression. And this is due to the role of the endorphins that are released in large amounts when we exercise, when we have sex or simply when we laugh. (more…)
