The regular use of bleach increases resistance to allergies

A study by the Center for Research in Environmental Epidemiology (CREAL) and the Municipal Institute of Medical Research (INIM-Hospital del Mar), published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology “, regular use of bleach causes a greater resistance Substances that cause allergy, such as cat allergens or pollens.

However, researchers warn that the product is also associated with other non-allergic respiratory symptoms when using four or more days a week.

To perform the study, analyzed 3626 people from ten European countries that were responsible for carrying out the cleaning in their homes, who were interviewed to assess how often they used bleach, and the nature of their respiratory symptoms.

In the homes of the participants also measured the levels of allergens of cat and house dust mites in dust from mattresses, to provide data with which to determine the allergic sensitization of individuals.

Food allergies increasing in U.S. pediatric

Experts are not sure if due to a higher level of consciousness or an actual increase in cases.

A study published in the online edition of Pediatrics, 16 November and will be published in the print edition in November, revealed that food allergies are growing pediatric population at a dramatic rate in the U.S.. Is estimated to have increased by 18 percent between 1997 and 2007, and the number of patients seeking treatment in emergency departments has tripled since 1993. (more…)
